The Lavender Beside the House.
Sunday 10th March 2002
(Happy Birthday, Lila)

The Lavender grows where it will on the northwest end of the House. This morning I cleared the grass from around the base of the smaller self-propogated plants to encourage them to spread. Up this small hill and across to level with the Shed, and up towards the Big Tree, I will plant with Lavenders to supply cuttings for the Lavender Field ToBe. They will be carpeted under with Thymes and Oreganos and Sages.

So far I have found Lavandula angustifolia, Lavandula stoechas or latifolia and, I think, Lavandula dentata. It's the L.dentata that we have at Mt Riv that made such a lovely infused oil. I've never seen an EO from this, but think it would be rather nice.
